Flavor Friends: Culinary Explorers Spring Break Camp

Tweens Ages 7-12: 9am – 12:30pm
Teens Ages 13-17: 1:30pm – 5:30pm
Camp Learning Objectives
Throughout the week, students will build confidence in the kitchen while learning essential culinary skills in a fun and supportive environment. Campers will learn proper kitchen safety, including safe knife handling, sanitation practices, and how to work safely around stovetops and hot equipment.
Students will also learn how to accurately measure ingredients using measuring cups, measuring spoons, and kitchen scales, and gain an understanding of why proper measurement is important in cooking and baking.
Additional skills students will practice include:
- Kitchen safety and proper knife handling
- Proper measuring using measuring cups, measuring spoons, and kitchen scales
- Kitchen organization and mise en place (having all ingredients prepared and ready before cooking)
- Preventing cross-contamination when working with raw ingredients
- Cleaning as you go and maintaining an organized workstation
- Proper sanitizing of work surfaces and kitchen tools
- Reading and following recipes step-by-step
- Basic knife skills and vegetable preparation
- Mixing batters and doughs
- Cooking proteins and vegetables
- Building balanced flavors using herbs, spices, and sauces
- Plating and presentation techniques
Students will also develop teamwork and kitchen communication skills while working together to prepare meals. By the end of the week, campers will have prepared a variety of dishes from different cuisines and will gain the confidence to recreate some of their favorite recipes at home.
Campers will leave with practical kitchen skills they can continue using at home while helping their families prepare meals.

End of Week Event – Family Tasting Finale (Friday)
Parents or loved ones join the final 30โ45 minutes.
Students:
present their ice cream or dessert, share their cookbook pages, serve their guests
